The POP and IMAP protocol are different from each other and knowing the difference will help you make the right choice.

-IMAP - IMAP allows you to access your data from multiple devices by keeping your email data stored on the email server. Whenever you access your emails to read, write, and delete this action is synced on all of your other devices you use to access your email because your activity is updated on the server.

-POP - POP allows you to access your email on one device only. When you choose POP your device downloads all of your email to a single device, and depending on the settings in the mail client they’re then deleted from the server to conserve space. Once the email is downloaded to your computer it only exists there so if your computer crashes your email is then lost. POP is less commonly used.
